Marriages and divorces in the Republic of Macedonia in 2012 - final data

According to the State Statistical Office data, the number of marriages registered in 2012 was 13 991, which represents an
increase of 5.1% compared to the previous year.


Most of the marriages were in August, 11.8%, and the fewest in March 5.2%.


By order of marriage, most were first marriages, with participation of 92.6% for women and 90.6% for men.


Men entered more often into second marriage (8.7%) and third marriage (0.8%) of the total number of marriages.


The average age at first marriage is 25.6 years for bride and 28.4 for groom.


In 2012, there were 1 926 divorces, an increase of 9.9% compared to 2011.


There were fewest divorces in August (3.2%) and most in April (10.7%).


The highest number of divorces by age of wife, 20.9%, was recorded in the age group 30-34, the same as for the husband, with
a share of 18.9%.
