Marriages and divorces in 2010

According to the State Statistical Office data, the number of marriages in 2010 decreased 5.1% compared to the previous year and it amounted to 14155 marriages.

Most of the marriages were in August (10.9%) and the fewest in March (5.4%).

By order of marriage, most were first marriages, 92.9% for women and 90.5% for men.

Men entered more often into second marriage (8.7%) and third marriage (0.8% of the total number of marriages).

The average age at first marriage is 25.2 years for bride and 28.0 for groom.

The number of divorces in 2010 increased by 33.6% compared to 2009 and it amounted to 1720 divorces.

There were fewest divorces in August (2.7%) and most in December (11.0%).

The highest number of divorces by age of wife (19.5%) was recorded in the age group 25-29, while for the husband (18.8%) in the age group 35-39.
