According to the data of the State Statistical Office, of the total number of persons aged 18 to 69 years in the Republic of North
Macedonia, 346 155 participated in education and lifelong learning activities in 2022, of which 167 826 (48.5%) were men and
178 329 (51.5%) were women. Most of the persons (28.1%) were aged 18 to 24, while the fewest (0.3%) were aged 65 to 69.
The participation rate in education and training in 2022 was 27.7, while the participation rate of persons aged 25 to 34 was
37.2. Of those who attended formal or non-formal education, 35.8% (124 001) participated in formal education, while 71.8 %
(248 582) took part in non-formal education. Of the persons with tertiary and higher education, 21.9% attended formal education and
51.1%. non-formal education. According to economic activity, 41.2% of the employed participated in formal education and 93.6 % in
non-formal education. By type of activity, of the total number of participants in non-formal education, 48.7% in guided on-the-job
training, 37.8% in courses while 29.1% participated in workshops. Most of the employed persons (52.0%) attended guided on-the-job
training, while the inactive population did not visit anything. Job-related activities in non-formal education and training were prevalent
in person aged 35 to 44 (29.7%), while the structure by sex shows that more women aged 35 to 44 (31.0%) participated in non-formal
job-related activities than men (28.4%). During 2022, 626 169 persons were involved in informal learning activities, of which 49.4% were
men while 50.6 % were women, and the highest share in this informal learning process was registered among persons aged 25 to 34.
