According to the data of the State Statistical Office, the number of teachers and supporting staff in the tertiary education institutions in the academic year 2011/2012 was 3 662.
Of the total number of teaching personnel and supporting staff, 2 240 persons or 61.2% are teachers, while 1 422 persons or 38.8% are supporting staff.
At the faculties, teaching was performed by 3 555 persons, which is 97.1% of the total number of teachers and supporting staff, while at higher schools teaching was performed by 107 persons or 2.9%.
The number of female teachers and supporting staff in the academic year 2011/2012 was 1 729 persons or 47.2%.
