According to the State Statistical Office, there were 57894 enrolled students in the Republic of Macedonia in the academic year 2009/2010.

The number of enrolled female students was 30408 or 52.5%.The highest number of students or 78.7% were enrolled in public tertiary institutions, while 21.0% were enrolled in private tertiary institutions.

There were 17942 students enrolled in the first year of studies, which is 31.0% of the total (students that are enrolled for the second time, third time or more are covered here).
