The Retail Price Index in May 2010, compared with April 2010, decreased by 0.3%,
while the Consumer Price Index decreased by 0.6%

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in May 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.7, while the Consumer Price Index was 99.4.
The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.6% is a result of the lower indices of vegetable by 14.9%, fruit and alcoholic beverages by 0.3%, meat and eggs by 0.2%.
In May, there was also a decrease of the indices of cosmetic products by 1.4%, means of education by 1.3% and materials for household maintenance by 0.4%.
An increase in the Consumer Price Index in May 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in dairy products by 1.4%, fats by 0.8%, dry fruit by 0.6%, processed fruit and milk and sour milk by 0.4% and processed meat by 0.3%.
In May, there was also an increase of the indices of services for household maintenance and personal care articles by 1.6%, oil derivates by 1.5%, footwear by 0.9%, food in restaurants and hotels by 0.3% and medicines by 0.2%.
The indices of the groups: Housing and Miscellaneous services n.e.c, remained at the same level as in the previous month.
The Retail Price Index, in May 2010, compared with May 2009, registered an increase by 1.8%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.2%.
The value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in May 2010, calculated on the basis of retail prices, was 12 378 denars, and in comparison with the previous month it is lower by 2.2%.
