The Retail Price Index in July 2010, compared with June 2010, decreased by 0.1%, while the Consumer Price Index decreased by 0.4%

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in July 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.9, while the Consumer Price Index was 99.6.

The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.4% is a result of the lower indices of vegetables by 16.8%, eggs by 0.6%, meat by 0.5% and milk and sour milk by 0.1%.

In July, there was also a decrease of the indices of transport equipment by 1.8%, clothing by 0.7% and footwear by 0.3%.

An increase in the Consumer Price Index in July 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fats by 3.4%, fruit by 2.3%, cereal products by 1.2%, processed vegetable by 0.7%, processed fish by 0.6%, processed meat by 0.4%, dairy products by 0.3%, processed fruit, fish and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.1%.

In July, there was also an increase of the indices of medicines by 2.2%, education services by 2.0%, oil derivates by 0.8%, cosmetic products and means of education by 0.5%, household utensils and personal care articles by 0.3%, materials for household maintenance and food in restaurants and hotels by 0.2% and Miscellaneous services n.e.c by 0.1%.

The index of the group Tobacco and beverages remained at the same level as in the previous month. The Retail Price Index in July 2010, compared with July 2009, registered an increase by 2.2%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.5%.

The value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in July 2010, calculated on the basis of retail prices, was 11 892 denars, and in comparison with the previous month it is lower by 2.3%.
