Retail Price Index and Consumer Price Index, March 2012

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in March 2012, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.7, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.4. The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.4% is a result of the higher indices of eggs by 11.2%, fruit by 2.7%, fats by 1.5%, confectionery products by 0.6%, meat and alcoholic beverages by 0.4%, processed fish by 0.3%, fish, fresh and sour milk and dairy products by 0.2%. In March, there was also an increase of the indices of passenger transport by railway by 50.9%, oil derivatives by 5.1%, passenger transport by air by 4.3%, liquid fuels and gas by 3.8%, central heating by 1.4%, means of education by 0.8%, personal care articles and cosmetic products by 0.5%, clothing and household appliances by 0.3% and medicines by 0.2%. A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in March 2012, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in vegetables by 1.9%, processed meat by 0.7%, processed fruit by 0.5%, cereal products by 0.4% and nonalcoholic beverages by 0.2%. In March, there was also a decrease of the indices of package holidays by 4.0% and telecommunication services by 0.3%. The Retail Price Index in March 2012, compared with March 2011, registered an increase by 2.7%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.4%.
