Retail Price Index and Consumer Price Index,
January 2013

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in January 2013, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.1, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.3. The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.3% in January 2013, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher indices of eggs by 4.6%, non-alcoholic beverages by 4.3%, fish by 3.6%, vegetables by 2.7%, pasta by 2.5%, dry fruit by 1.6%, alcoholic beverages by 1.5%, processed fruit by 1.0%, processed vegetables by 0.7%, meat by 0.5%, processed meat and confectionery products by 0.4%. In January, there was also an increase of the indices of accommodation services by 15.2%, food and beverages in restaurants and hotels by 2.0%, medicines by 1.1%, clothing and household appliances by 0.4% and package holidays by 0.3%. A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in January 2013, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fruit by 1.9%, fats by 0.9%, dairy products and other food products by 0.6%. In January, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 4.9%, liquid fuels and gas for households by 3.3%, means of education and personal transport equipment by 2.3%, oil derivatives by 0.5% and footwear by 0.3%. The Retail Price Index in January 2013, in comparison with January 2012, registered an increase by 2.4% while the Consumer Price Index increased by 3.8%.
