According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index and the Retail Price Index in May 2014, in comparison
with the previous month, were 100.3.
The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.3% in May 2014, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher
indices of fresh fruit by 3.5%, other bakery products by 2.0%, fresh vegetables by 1.5%, canned fish by 1.2%, dry fruit by 0.7%,
preserved meat products by 0.5%, other milk products by 0.4%, fish, sugar, chocolate and other confectionery by 0.3%, and other
food products by 2.2%.
In May, there was also an increase of the indices of footwear by 3.7%, passenger transport by air by 2.9%, liquid fuels for
households by 1.9%, liquid fuels and lubricants by 1.7%, solid fuels and health services by 0.5%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in May 2014, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in oil and fats by
1.1%, eggs by 1.0%, durable sausage products by 0.5%, pasta and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3% and alcoholic beverages by
0.2%.
In May, there was also a decrease of the indices of means for recreation and culture by 3.0%, medicines by 0.6% and cleaning
and maintenance products by 0.2%.
The Consumer Price Index in May 2014, in comparison with May 2013, registered a decrease by 0.6%, while the Retail Price Index
decreased by 0.7%.
