Consumer Price Index by COICOP classification and Retail Price Index,
September 2016

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in September 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.2, while the Retail Price Index was 99.8. The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.2% in September 2016, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher indices of fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes by 2.6%, eggs by 2.4%, potatoes by 1.3%, meat, fish, sea food and frozen fruit by 0.7%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.5%, dried fruit, nuts and alcoholic beverages by 0.3% and dried, salted or smoked meat by 0.2%. In September, there was also an increase of the indices of gas for household by 3.7%, liquid fuels for household by 3.2%, liquid fuels and lubricants by 2.4%, cleaning and maintenance products for the dwelling by 2.0%, health services by 1.5%, veterinary and other services for pets by 1.2%, books by 0.9%, other personal effects by 0.7%, furniture and small electric household appliances by 0.8%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0.6%, catering services by 0.5%, solid fuels for household by 0.3%, services for personal care and jewellery, clocks and watches by 0.2%. A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in September 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in rice and whole milk by 1.1%, edible offal by 0.5%, other food products by 0.4% and fresh or chilled fruit by 0.3%. In September 2016, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 15.2%, package holidays by 10.6%, accommodation services by 6.4%, out- patient services by 6.1%, bicycles by 0.7%, footwear by 0.5% and medicines by 0.2%. The Consumer Price Index in September 2016, in comparison with September 2015, registered an increase by 0.2%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 0.5%.
