Business tendencies in manufacturing industry in May 2021

The managers of the business entities assessed that the confidence indicator in manufacturing industry in May 2021, standing at 14.8, is 0.1 percentage points higher compared to April 2021 and 1.8 percentage points higher compared to May 2020.

The situation with the current volume of production orders in May 2021 is less favourable compared to the previous month, the expectations for the production volume for the next three months are more favourable and the stocks of finished goods are increased.

The estimation of the economic situation is less satisfactory compared to the previous month, but more satisfactory compared to May 2020. The number of employees is expected to decrease.

The average capacity utilization level of the business entities in May 2021 decreased to 71.3% of normal utilization.

The factors that had the greatest influence on limiting the production volume in May 2021 were: insufficient foreign demand with 20.5%, uncertainty of the economic environment with 16.3%, shortage of skilled labour with 15.6%, and insufficient domestic demand with 14.4%.
