Business tendencies in construction, third quarter of 2017


The managers of the business entities assessed that the confidence indicator in construction in the third quarter of 2017 is the
same as in the second quarter at 10.9 percent, and 2 percentage points higher compared to the same quarter of 2016.
The expectations for the total orders (contracts) are more favourable compared to the previous quarter, while the number of
employees is expected to decrease during the next 3 months.
The assessment of the economic situation in the third quarter of 2017 is less favourable compared to the previous quarter, but
more favourable compared to the same quarter of 2016. The assessment of the current situation with orders (contracts) for
construction works is more favourable, while the financial situation is assessed as less favourable than the previous quarter.
The selling prices are expected to decrease in the next period, while the quantity and quality of the business entities' machinery
and equipment are above the normal level.
The factors that had the greatest influence on limiting the improvement of the current construction activity were: increased
material expenditures with 22.6%, no demand with 16.8%, competition in the same sector with 14.5% and increased financial
expenditures (interests) with 12.8%.
