In 2010, 84.1% of the enterprises in the financial and non-financial sector, with
10 or more employees, had access to the Internet

According to the data of the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia, 92.7% of the enterprises in the
financial and non-financial sector, with 10 or more employees, were equipped with computers, 67.5% used a computer
network LAN, and 27.8% used wireless LAN. Intranet (internal communication network based on internet protocol)
was used in 19.3%, and Extranet (allowed external access to their own network) in 13.2% of the enterprises.
The most common type of connection to the Internet is via DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technologies (as ADSL and
others), used by 70.6% of the enterprises with Internet access.
The Internet was most frequently used for banking and financial services by 73.6% of the enterprises with Internet
access, and only 5.3% had e-sales during 2009.
In January 2010, 13.8% of the enterprises had a formally defined ICT security policy.
The most common ICT security facilities or procedures were: making offsite data backup, by 31.5% of the enterprises,
and use of strong password authentication or encrypted transmission and storage, by 28.4%.
