Usage of information and communication technologies in households and by individuals, 2015


According to the data of the State Statistical Office, in the first quarter of 2015, 69.4% of the households had access to the Internet
at home, which is one percentage point more in comparison with the same period in 2014. The participation of households with
broadband connection in the total number of households increased from 67.7% in 2014 to 69.0% in 2015.
Almost all (99.5%) of the households with Internet access had broadband (fixed or mobile) connection to the Internet.
In the first quarter of 2015, 69.2% of the total population aged 15-74 used a computer, while 70.4% used the Internet. Internet
was most used by pupils and students, i.e. 94.7%.
71.2% of the Internet users in the first quarter of 2015 used a mobile phone or a smart phone for accessing the Internet away
from home or work.
Of the persons to have ever used the Internet, 15.4%0ordered/bought goods or services over the Internet in the last 12 months,
and the majority of them (66.9%) bought clothes or sports goods. Almost 80% of the persons that did not buy over the Internet
in the last 12 months prefer to shop in person, like to see product, force of habit or similar, and 28% did not buy over the Internet
because of their worries about payment security or privacy concerns, e.g. giving credit card details or personal details over the
