According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia in the
period January-June 2014 was 2 357 790 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 3 551 715 thousand US dollars. Import
coverage by export was 66.4%. The trade deficit in the period January-June 2014 was 1 193 925 thousand US dollars.
The trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with
precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ferro-nickel, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets
of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products) and clothes. In the imports, the most
significant products are petroleum oils, the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, electricity and other
metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form.
In the period January-June 2014, the most important export partners were the EU-28 countries (78.8%) and the West Balkan
countries (13.7%), while the most important import partners were the EU-28 countries (64.5%) and Miscellaneous-countries
not specified extra (11.1%). According to the total volume of international commodity trade, the most important trade partners
of the Republic of Macedonia are Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and Italy (52.8% of the total international commodity
trade).
