According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2025 amounted to 35 635.8 million denars, a 5.0 % increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 52 262.1 million denars, or 5.9% more than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in January 2025 was 16 626.3 million denars.
Import coverage by export in January 2025 was 68.2 %.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, other supported catalysts and parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1. In the imports, the most significant products are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, the electricity and platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form.
In January 2025, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Bulgaria and China.
External trade expressed in euros and US dollars
Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2025 amounted to 578.9 million euros, a 5.1% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 849.1 million euros, or 6.1% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in January 2025 was 270.1 million euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2025 amounted to 599.3 million US dollars, a 0.2% decrease compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 878.5 million US dollars, or 0.6% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in January 2025 was 279.2 million US dollars.
