According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the overall external trade of the Republic of Macedonia in January 2016 amounted to:
- 694 140 thousand US dollars - a decrease of 8.6% compared to the same period last year;
- 638 325 thousand euros - a decrease of 2.9% compared to the same period last year.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in January 2016 amounted to 309 706 thousand US dollars, which is a 7.9% decrease compared to the same period last year, while the total value of imported goods in the same period was 384 434 thousand US dollars, or 9.1% less than the same period last year.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in January 2016 amounted to 284 774 thousand euros, which is a 2.4% decrease compared to the same period last year, while the total value of imported goods in the same period was 353 551 thousand euros, or 3.3% less than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in January 2016 amounted to 74 727 thousand US dollars, which is a decrease of 14.0% in comparison with the same period last year. Expressed in euros, the trade deficit amounted to 68 777 thousand euros, which represents a decrease of 6.7% compared to the same period last year.
Import coverage by export in January 2016 was 80.6%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, ferro-nickel, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products). In the imports, the most significant products are the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), electricity and other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form.
