According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - February 2016 amounted to 39 078 145 thousand denars, a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 51 173 788 thousand denars, or 7.4% more than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in the period January - February 2016 was 12 095 643 thousand denars.
Import coverage by export in the period January - February 2016 was 76.4%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, ferro-nickel, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products). In the imports, the most significant products are the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), electricity and other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form. In the period January - February 2016, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria.

Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - February 2016 amounted to 633 514 thousand euros, a 7.2% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 829 679 thousand euros, or 7.1% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January - February 2016 was 196 165 thousand euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - February 2016 amounted to 696 379 thousand US dollars, a 3.2% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 913 375 thousand US dollars, or 3.0% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January - February 2016 was 216 996 thousand US dollars.
