According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - March 2016 amounted to 60 649 158 thousand denars, a 5.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 83 654 958 thousand denars, or 3.9% more than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in the period January - March 2016 was 23 005 800 thousand denars. Import coverage by export in the period January - March 2016 was 72.5%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, ferro-nickel, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products). In the imports, the most significant products are the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), electricity and other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form.
In the period January - March 2016, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of
Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria.

Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - March 2016 amounted to 983 165 thousand euros, a 5.7% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 1 356 183 thousand euros, or 3.7% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January - March 2016 was 373 018 thousand euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in the period January - March 2016 amounted to 1 086 103 thousand US dollars, a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 1 497 696 thousand US dollars, or 2.2% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January - March 2016 was 411 593 thousand US dollars.
