According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in
January 2018 amounted to 25 873 897 thousand denars, a 27.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 34 455 998 thousand denars, or 24.2% more than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in January 2018 was 8 582 101 thousand denars.
Import coverage by export in January 2018 was 75.1%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and clothes. In the imports, the most significant products are the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, not clad, plated or coated and other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form.

Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in January 2018 amounted to 420 606 thousand euros, a 27.9% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 560 136 thousand euros, or 24.2% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in January 2018 was 139 529 thousand euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of Macedonia in January 2018 amounted to 514 632 thousand US dollars, a 47.1% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 683 911 thousand US dollars, or 42.7% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in January 2018 was 169 280 thousand US dollars.
