According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-March 2019 amounted to 94 088 633 thousand denars, a 16.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 122 337 629 thousand denars, or 11.4% more than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in the period January-March 2019 was 28 248 995 thousand denars.
Import coverage by export in the period January-March 2019 was 76.9%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and motor vehicles for the transport of 10 or more persons, including the driver, with compression-ignition internal combustion engine (diesel or semi-diesel). In the imports, the most significant products are the platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form and ceramic wares for laboratory, chemical or other technical uses.
In the period January-March 2019, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and Italy.

Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-March 2019 amounted to 1 529 188 thousand euros, a 16.8% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 1 988 415 thousand euros, or 11.5% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period JanuaryMarch 2019 was 459 228 thousand euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-March 2019 amounted to 1 735 738 thousand US dollars, a 7.7% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 2 256 298 thousand US dollars, or 2.8% more than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January-March 2019 was 520 560 thousand US dollars.
