International trade volume, January - February 2011

According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia in the
period January-February 2011 was 599 115 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 1 097 068 thousand US dollars. Import
coverage by export was 54.6%. The trade deficit in the period January-February 2011 was 497 953 thousand US dollars.
The trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with
precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products), clothes,
ferro-nickel and petroleum oil preparations. In the imports, the most significant products are platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought
or in powder form, colloidal precious metals; compounds, inorganic or organic, of precious metals, whether or not chemically
defined; amalgams of precious metals, the crude petroleum oils, motor vehicles for transport of persons and electricity.
In the period January-February 2011 the most important export partners were the EU-27 countries (65.4%) and the West Balkan
countries (22.2%), and the most important import partners were the EU-27 countries (57.3%) and the Developing countries
(26.5%). According to the total volume of international commodity trade, the most important trade partners of the Republic of
Macedonia are Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Serbia and Bulgaria (50.8% of the total international commodity trade).
