International trade volume, January - December 2009

According to the defnite data of the State Statistical Offce, the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia, in the period
January-December 2009, was 2 708 488 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 5 072 821 thousand US dollars. Import
coverage by export was 53.4%. The trade defcit, in the period January-December 2009, was 2 364 333 thousand US dollars.
The trade exchange by products shows that in the export the biggest share belongs to iron and steel products (fat-rolled products),
clothes, ferro-nickel and petroleum oil preparations. In the import, the most frequent products are the crude petroleum oils, motor
vehicles for transport of persons and electricity.
In the period January-December 2009, the EU-27 countries (56.4%) and the Western Balkan countries (36.9%) have the biggest
participation in export, while in import the biggest participation belongs to the EU-27 countries (52.3%) and the developing countries
(26.7%). According to the total volume of international commodity trade, the Republic of Macedonia trades mostly with Germany,
Serbia, Greece, Italy and Russia (45.6% of the total international commodity trade).
