Enterprise births, 2009-2013
According to the data of the State Statistical Office, in 2009, 17.2% of the total number of active enterprises in the Republic of
Macedonia whose main activity according to the National Classification of Activities - NKD Rev.2 is in the sectors of activity from
B/? to S/? (sectors A/?, O/?, T/? and U/? and class 64.20 are excluded) were newly born enterprises, in 2010 that number was
16.2%, in 2011 12.9%, in 2012 11.9% and in 2013 10.0%.
Enterprise deaths, 2009-2011
As regards enterprise deaths, data show that in 2009 the total number of enterprise deaths whose main activity is in the sectors
of activity from B/? to S/? (sectors A/?, O/?, T/? and U/? and class 64.20 are excluded) was 12.0% of the total number of active
enterprises in the specified sectors, 13.7% in 2010 and 9.3% in 2011.
Analysed by sectors of activity, the data show that the sector with the highest share in enterprise births and deaths is "Wholesale
and retail trade; repair of vehicles, motorcycles and personal and household goods".
The data on the structure of enterprise births and deaths by legal form show that the majority are enterprises which are
categorised as limited liability companies and joint stock companies.
Enterprises born in 2009-2012 that survived until 2013
Of the total number of enterprises born in 2009, 49.9% survived in 2013. The greatest survival rate is observed among the newly
born enterprises whose main activity according to the National Classification of Activities - NKD Rev.2 belongs in the sectors
of activity Q/H "Human health and social work activities" (82.5%) and D/? "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply"
(69.6%).
Data show that 44.6% of the newly born enterprises in 2010, 58.8% of the enterprises born in 2011 and 64.9% of the enterprises
born in 2012 survived in 2013. The most stable, i.e. having the highest survival rate in 2010 and 2011, are newly born enterprises
whose main activity according to the National Classification of Activities - NKD Rev.2 is in the sector of activity Q/? "Human
health and social work activities" and newly born enterprises in 2012 in the sector of activity "Financial and insurance activities"
(without class 64.20).
