According to the data of the State Statistical Office, in 2004, 15.0% of the total number of active enterprises in the
Republic of Macedonia whose main activity is in the sectors of activity from C/B to O/? (without L/J and 74.15 class)
were newly born enterprises, in 2005 that number was 17.4%, in 2006 15.3%, in 2007 20.7% and in 2008 17.1%.
As regards enterprise deaths, data show that in 2004 the total number of enterprise deaths whose main activity is
in the sectors of activity from C/B to O/? ( without L/J and 74.15 class) was 10.0% of the total number of active
enterprises in the given sectors, in 2005 11.4%, in 2006 12.2%, in 2007 12.5% and 11.7% in 2008.
Analysed by sectors of activity, the data show that the sector with the highest share in births and deaths of enterprises
is Wholesale and retail sale trade; repair of vehicles, motorcycles and personal and household goods.
The data on the structure of the enterprise births and deaths by legal form show that the highest share belongs
to enterprises which according to their legal form are categorized as limited liability companies and joint stock
companies.
