In 2009, 99.4% of the entities in the public sector (central and local authorities) had access to the Internet

In 2009, according to the data of the State Statistical Office, the most spread connection to the Internet among the entities in the public sector was via DSL technologies (ADSL or others) by 70.3%.
93.4% of the entities in the public sector had local area network, LAN, based on wired connection, while wireless LAN had 33.1% of the entities. 50.6% of the entities in the public sector had intranet, internal computer network based on internet protocol, while 26.5% of the entities in the public sector had extranet i.e. allowed access of external users to parts of their intranet.
84.2% of the entities with access to the Internet had their own website.
From the subjects with Internet access, most of them, 98.2%, used the Internet for obtaining various information, while 92.7% of them used the Internet for giving information about their work. Also, in this sector, Internet was used by 78.8% of the entities for interactions with the public authorities i.e. the public administration.
