Today, at the EU InfoCentre of the EU Delegation in the Republic of Macedonia, an event was held to mark the official start of the Twinning Project "Support to the State Statistical Office for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards". Participants in the Project are the National Institute of Statistics of Italy and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia as EU member states, and the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia as the beneficiary institution. The event was attended by the ambassadors and deputy ambassadors of the countries participating in the Project, the directors of the national statistical institutions participating in the Project, representatives of the Statistical Office of the European Union - Eurostat, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the institutions that constitute the Macedonian statistical system, a large number of experts and statisticians. The main focus in all presentations was the importance and significance of the Twinning Project for the entire statistical system of the Republic of Macedonia, and particularly for the State Statistical Office as the beneficiary institution. This is the third twinning project of the SSO and will run until February 2018. The Project is funded by the European Union.
