Successful bilateral meeting with EC on Chapter 18 – Statistics

The working delegation met today at the State Statistical Office which in the previous two days participated at the bilateral meeting with the EC in Luxembourg and where it reported about the compliance of the National Statistical System of the Republic of North Macedonia with European legislation in the field of statistics, i.e. Chapter 18.

The general conclusion is that the bilateral meeting was extremely successful, for which the director of the SSO, Mr. Apostol Simovski congratulated all the participants in the working group for the invested effort and for the outstanding presentation of the current situation:

  • It gives me great pleasure that I was part of this working group and that we showed before the European Commission that the National Statistical System of the Republic of North Macedonia, led by the State Statistical Office, is well organised, with a clear vision of its own role in the negotiation process and is up to date with the latest achievements of the European statistical system, it continuously monitors all new developments in the legislation and tries, within its capacities, to satisfy all the requirements equally as the member countries - said director Simovski.

At the meeting, it was emphasised that now there is a huge task ahead for everyone involved in this Chapter, which refers to the preparation of a precise action plan and deadlines for the conduction of the planned activities which will represent a kind of national benchmark for which everyone will have to make best efforts for its full realisation.
